The Carved Cross
I have always enjoyed cemeteries. Altars for the living as well as resting places for the dead, they are entryways, I think, to any town or city, the best places to become acquainted with the tastes of the inhabitants, both present and gone.

I shot this in the Pioneer Cemetery in Guerneville, CA. It is a mixture of old and new graves. Lots of history here. I love the look of this cross and it's the first time I have ever come across one with such ornate carvings. I just love the look and feel of it.
